It's not that I love dogs less, but I value our natural habitat more.
In my opinion, the plans for 3280 Woodruff Road are far too ambitious to fit with the
sensitivity of this property.
This is prime habitat for birds and mammals and has existed
for years as a wildlife refuge.
Positioned as it is between the buffer land and section 95 on one side of Sooke Road and
the Sooke Hills Wilderness Park on the other side,
this property is part of a natural
wildlife corridor.

I thank Mayor and Council for having a second look at the Sue Big Oil proposition.
I am strongly in favor of supporting this action.
The costs of preparing for and dealing
with fires, floods, drought, and extreme weather are mounting in British Columbia. We
know that the fossil fuel industry is a huge contributor to climate change. This is a matter
of accountability and fairness.
It's also a matter of survival.
Some people say that a small municipality like Metchosin can't make a difference. I
want Metchosin to provide leadership for other districts. I want us to be the lit

I am writing regarding the renewed discussion around pursuing a Dark Sky Community
designation for the District of Metchosin. Council may recall that this proposal previously
came before Council and at that time, Council requested additional information.
During our HSASC discussions, committee members requested that additional information be
provided. Mr. Ted White, who was a member of HCASC at that time, indicated that DarkSky
International would not provide detailed information without payment of the application fee.

Council approves $200,000 FireSmart grant to support community fire program
The council approved a $200,000 allocation from the UBCM Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for the 2026 FireSmart program and authorized the CAO to execute related agreements. I like that it is made clear that property owners are responsible for removal of invasive
plants on their land.
I urge that the District will do it's very best to remove invasives on public land.
I think it's fair that, after warning, the District can do the removal and bill the owner
