This helps ensure an environment where individuals with differed views feel comfortable speaking. If decorum is not maintained, I may recess the meeting until such a time as it can continue in contortance with proper decorum. Everyone who wishes to speak shall be given the opportunity to be heard. Speakers will have five minutes to make comments and may speak a second time after all have been given a first opportunity. Please clearly state your name before you begin your comments. It's important that all speakers restrict their comments to matters related to the proposed bylaw. It is my responsibility as chair to make sure that all remarks are so restricted and the proper decorum is followed. Staff will present the proposed bylaw and announce how many pieces of correspondence have been received. Following staff's presentation, members of the public will have an opportunity to comment. Members of Council may, if they wish, ask questions of speakers following your comments. However, the main function of Council is to listen to the views of the public. It is not Council's function at this public hearing to debate the proposed bylaw application with individual citizens. If you have questions and things, the staff will record the questions. If they can answer them now, they will. If they can't, they will get back to you on those answer …

Don't really have a report this time, so we're going to go into announcements. So a couple of announcements. First, we'd like to recognize the passing of Tom Siddon, who passed away at the age of 84. Tom, not a Lake Country resident, but he was a former federal cabinet minister, respected, passionate advocate for water stewardship in the Okanagan, and a founder of the chair of the Okanagan Water Stewards hip Council. He helped shape the collaborative and science-based approach to water management that continues to guide our region today. On behalf of Council on the District of Lake Country, I'd like to extend our sincere condolences to Tom's family, friends, and colleagues. His contributions to the Okanagan and to water stewardship across the region will not be forgotten. You know, even as an MP for the Okanagan and the South Okan agan, he was incredibly effective and really worked hard. So, it's a sad day for that. It's a reminder to residents that the temporary weekday det our on the Okanagan Rail Trail between Lodge Road and McCarthy Road is now in effect, while crews install a new sewer force main. The detour is along a multi-use pathway and is in place …
