The Council approved a series of measures in response to the July‑August 2024 extreme rainfall events, including a $1,000 residential compassionate flood‑relief grant and a rebate of up to $6,800 for basement flood‑prevention improvements. They also authorized additional operating and capital budget increases for 2024‑2025, the hiring of 21 full‑time equivalents to support stormwater infrastructure maintenance and flood‑relief programs, and the pursuit of funding for the Dixie‑Dundas Flood Mitigation Project and the Ninth Line Widening Project. In a separate decision, the Council designated the property at 1 Godfrey’s Lane (Ward 1) as a heritage site, directing city officials to take the necessary actions to effect the by‑law.
