Regular Council Meeting

Council to adopt interim tax levy and approve several key by‑laws

The Madawaska Valley Council will adopt the agenda and approve minutes from the January 6 meeting. It will approve a $59 per hour fundraising rate for the Barry's Bay Minor Hockey Flannel Fest, amend Schedule 'L' to add 911 sign fees of $154 and $206, and declare Councillor Ernie Peplinskis' seat vacant effective Jan 21 2026. The council will also consider a referendum question for the 2026 election and pass multiple by‑laws, including an interim tax levy, council remuneration, and other regulatory updates.

Council in Committee approves $27,000 withdrawal from General‑Legal Reserve

The Madawaska Valley Council in Committee will adopt its agenda, receive a series of municipal reports, and consider several by‑law motions. It will approve the withdrawal of $27,000 from the General‑Legal Reserve to cover a 2025 operating expense overage. The committee will also move forward a by‑law to close a shoreline road allowance on Martin Recoskie Rd and approve a contract with Wilkens Safety Inc. through By‑Law 2026‑01, as well as confirm the meeting proceedings with By‑Law 2026‑02.
