By-law 2024-05 Page 1 of 1 The Corporation of the Municipality of Meaford By-law Number 2024-05 Being a by-law to establish an Accessibility Advisory Committee Whereas, Section 5 (3) of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001, c.25 provides that municipal power shall be exercised by by-law; and Whereas, Section 11 of Act permits Council to pass by-laws regarding the governance structure of the Municipality; and Whereas, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requires that municipalities with a population of over 10,000 must establish an Accessibility Advisory Committee; and Whereas, Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Meaford deems it expedient and necessary to establish an Accessibility Advisory Committee. The Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Meaford enacts as follows: 1. That the Municipality of Meaford Accessibility Advisory Committee is hereby established. 2. That the Accessibility Advisory Committee Terms of Reference, attached hereto as Schedule A and forming part of this by-law, are hereby adopted. 3. That By-law 2015-01 is hereby repealed. 4. Accessibility Advisory Committee

Council passes by‑law to create the Meaford Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Council of the Municipality of Meaford adopted By‑law 2024‑05, establishing a new Accessibility Advisory Committee. The by‑law also adopts the committee’s Terms of Reference and repeals By‑law 2015‑01. The committee will have up to seven voting members, with at least 50 % required to have a self‑identified disability, and will meet six times per year.

✓ Décisions: Board approved hosting an All Candidate Debate on Oct. 7 at the community centre

The board approved hosting an All Candidate Debate on Wednesday, October 7 at 7 pm in the Bognor Community Centre, with the municipal clerk and Jeff Solomon to be contacted for logistics. It also approved a $500 storage cabinet for the sound system, a 50 % rental fee reduction for the weekly line‑dancing program in July and August when attendance is ten or fewer, and accepted the Treasurer’s report and other committee reports. The new activities logo was endorsed and the agenda was adopted with a new business item on ventures and opportunities.

Grey Sauble Conservation Authority Board

✓ Décisions: GSCA Board approves $5,000 reserve draw for capital overages

The Grey Sauble Conservation Authority Board approved an additional $5,000 draw from reserves to cover in-year capital expenses, including a shared drive-in shed and debris removal overage at Clendenan Dam. The Board also received the 2027 Draft Budget and directed staff to bring a final draft to the July 22, 2026 meeting for approval to circulate to municipalities. Additionally, the Board formally named several meeting rooms, including the Benthic ID Lab in honour of retiring Water Resources Coordinator John Bittorf.

Council to receive Community Readiness Study on Ontario Pumped Storage Project

Council will receive the staff report CAO2026-09 and a Deloitte presentation on the Meaford Community Readiness Study for the Ontario Pumped Storage Project for information. The study was funded through a cost‑recovery model with contributions from TC Energy and $285 million from the Provincial Government for pre‑development work. Council will also enter a closed session to discuss a Community Benefit Agreement with StrategyCorp and municipal officials.
