Regular Meeting of Council
Council approves up to $51,600 in Housing Accelerator Fund for five homes
The Town of Gander Council considered several development and community items. It moved to approve Housing Accelerator Fund grants ranging from $6,000 to $51,600 for applications on 31 Read Street, 106 Memorial Drive, 68‑70 Elizabeth Drive, 15 Balbo Street, and 1 Grandy Avenue. The Rolling Barrage is a coast to coast motorcycle ride to raise awareness of mental health and PTSD with First Responders, Serving Military, Veterans and Coast Guard. They will be leaving St. John's on August 1st with their first stopover in Gander. Their plans for a sponsored supper fell through, therefore they are looking for a donation towards their meal to help reduce the cost for their riders. They currently have 132 registered but expect up to 200 by August. The anticipated cost of the meal is $5000 ($25 per person). Asking if the Town would consider a monetary donation.

Build Communities Strong Fund
The Town of Gander is advancing Phase 1 of the Regional Event and Active Living Infrastructure Plan, which builds upon the Events and Wellness Centre Feasibility Study previously completed by Colliers Project Leaders.
As part of this work, the Town intends to submit an Expression of Interest under the federal Build Communities Strong Fund (BCSF). The submission requires detailed technical documentation, including preliminary design, cost estimates, and supporting project information to meet funding criteria.
Colliers Project Leaders has submitted a proposal to provide professional services to support the development of the Expression of Interest, including coordination of architectural, engineering, and cost consulting inputs.
The cost of this project is 100% funded by the Canada Community Building Fund.

Le Conseil donnera une deuxième lecture à un nouveau règlement sur les normes communautaires couvrant le bruit, l'éclairage, les parasites et l'entretien des biens, et abrogera trois anciens règlements. Il approuvera également des modifications au Plan municipal et au Règlement sur l'aménagement pour permettre davantage de logements multifamiliaux et de logements accessoires, en réduisant les exigences minimales de stationnement. Correspondence was submitted by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure recommending approval for the tender award, as evaluated by the Town’s consultant, CBCL, for the Gander Pumphouse Upgrades. The scope of work includes replacement of the existing pumps and supporting electrical and mechanical systems at the Gander Lake and reservoir pumphouses to maintain potable water supply from Gander Lake to Town residents.
