Committee of Adjustment - Panel 1

Thank you. We'll start in one minute. Thank you. Merci. Thank you. Thank you. Merci. Please remain standing. And I will ask Councillor Cavanagh to introduce the performer of our national anthem this morning. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. It's my pleasure to introduce an Ottawa-born talent who is a pop and gospel singer Shauna Holder. Shauna's deep connection to the national anthem began in early childhood under challenging circumstances. At four years old, she experienced systematic exclusion when her kindergarten teacher kept her outside the classroom during the morning anthem. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, she used that time on the bench to teach herself the national anthem by listening to the speakers from afar. Today, Sha una proudly wears red and white as she finds healing and pride in the anthem, representing her country loud and proud as a proud Canadian. She has performed at numerous high-profile events including Ottawa's Martin Luther King Day and a commemorative hockey game where she was escorted onto the ice by Ron McClain. Sustained by her faith, her ultimate dreams are to perform the anthem at Parliament Hill for Canada Day and at Ottawa Senators' opening game. Maybe the charge game too. I think that would be a good idea. You can also hear her original tracks on SoundCloud under the name Rainbow Star. Shauna wishes to extend her sincere thanks to City Council for this opportunity and I'd like to welcome Shauna as she performs her a cappella rendition of the nation …
