Thank you. I was in a band like that once. Thank you. I'd like to open the Tuesday, August 11th City Council meeting. In a few minutes we'll hear our national anthem performed by Isabella Jankowski, but first I'll turn it to Councillor Zasino for our land acknowledgement. Please stand if you're able. We acknowledge we have the privilege to live and work on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe peoples of Fort William First Nation, signatory to the Robinson Superior Treaty of 1850. This land has been a place of gathering, learning and sust enance for Indigenous people since time immemorial. We recognize the enduring presence and deep traditional knowledge of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and the ways that they have shaped and continue to shape our community. We acknowledge the effects of colonization, including displacement, loss of culture and intergenerational trauma. And we commit ourselves to reconciliation through respectful relationships, truth-telling and shared action for a better future. Let us pause and reflect. I welcome Isabella Jankowski to the front. Isabella Jankowski to the front. Thank you and please be seated. Deputy Kirk Walters, what's our next order of business? But again, apologies to those watching at home. They may not be able to see the presentat …

Good evening, everyone. We are ready to start our Standing Committee on the Quality of Life meeting for Tuesday, July 21st. First item. Chair, the first item is a land acknowledgement from Councillor Johnson. We acknowledge that we have the privilege to live and work on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe peoples of Fort Wayne First Nation, sign atory to the Robinson Superior Treaty of 1850. This land has been a place of gathering, learning and sust enance for Indigenous peoples since time immemorial. We recognize the enduring presence and deep traditional knowledge of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples and the ways they have shaped and continue to shape our community. We acknowledge the effects of colonization, including displacement, loss of culture, and intergenerational trauma. We commit ourselves to reconciliation through respectful relationships, truth-telling, and shared action for a better future. We are going to be able to do that. While we maintain enhanced monitoring on the situation, provide assistance to evacuee operations controlled by the province, and ensure communications to our community, the reality is that we must also continue with the routine business of the city. Therefore, as our minds and hearts keep an eye on the needs from and impacts of the fires, we also present to this standing committee a full agenda of items for consideration , guidance and direction this evening. Future meetings will remain as scheduled. Work continues despite the tr …

Thank you. as well as transportation improvements to address traffic and future growth. These themes were important considerations in developing the preferred concept plan. Next slide, please. This slide illustrates the draft preferred plan that emerged through technical studies, policy review, and public engagement. The plan is intended to create a complete neighbourhood that balances future growth with the protection of existing environmental and recreational features. That shift in perspective, seeing ourselves as newcomers inside an ongoing story, rather than the authors of it, is where the real acknowledgement begins. Let us pause and reflect. Please remain standing. We have an instrumental version …

Thank you Councillor Johnson. Councillor Aiello please. Thank you and through the speaker. I just want …
