Committee of the Whole

Council to consider moving to Drought Level 2 and water restrictions

The Committee of the Whole is considering a staff recommendation to move the District of Summerland to Drought Level 2 (Dry Conditions) and Water Use Stage 1 (three-times-a-week watering) due to lower-than-average snowpack. This would set voluntary 10% water reduction targets for agricultural and other high-volume users, replacing the current Drought Level 4 with its compulsory 30% reductions. The decision is based on current watershed conditions, with a possible return to higher drought levels later in the season if conditions worsen.
