Lloydminster council agenda includes $2.3M water treatment contract, economic development plan
The regular council meeting on June 22 saw several proposed actions, including a contract award for water treatment plant upgrades and a new five-year economic development strategy. Minutes from the meeting have not yet been published, so final outcomes are pending.
Water treatment clarifier rehabilitation
Council considered awarding a $2,306,000 contract to Maple Reinders Constructors for rehabilitation of the water treatment plant clarifier. An additional $385,000 from the Water/Wastewater Capital Reserve was also proposed to fund the project. The contract amount and reserve drawdown represent a significant expenditure on water infrastructure.
Other agenda items
Council also reviewed a proposed non-potable effluent water supply agreement with Avalon Oil and Gas Ltd. The 2026-2031 Economic Development Strategic Plan was tabled for potential adoption, setting a framework for economic growth over the next five years. A collective agreement with IAFF Local 5182 covering the 2022-2024 period was also on the agenda for approval.
Land use bylaw amendments
Public hearings were scheduled for several land use bylaw amendments, including changes related to Lakeside 8-2C and Parkview MR Greenspace. These hearings would allow residents to provide input on the proposed amendments.
