South Frontenac council weighs Fire Master Plan, $133,880 grant; committee reviews lot variances
South Frontenac's council met Aug. 11 to consider a Fire Master Plan with 36 recommendations, a $133,880 fire prevention grant application, and a $98,306.25 contract for an organizational review. The Committee of Adjustment met Aug. 13 to handle consent and variance applications, and the Frontenac OPP Detachment Board met Aug. 20 to review budget and policy items.
Council (Aug. 11)
The agenda included:
- **Fire Master Plan** – Council was to receive the completed plan, covering fire protection, staffing, training, and station modernization.

Committee of Adjustment (Aug. 13)

- **Consent PL-BDJ-2026-0077** – Lot addition of 0.7 ha (1.7 acres) with 30 m frontage on Road 38, plus shared driveway easement.
- **Consent PL-BDJ-2026-0078** – Creation of one new 2.2 ha (5.5 acres) lot with 36 m frontage on Road 38.
- **Variance PL-ZNA-2026-0079** – Reduce required frontage on Road 38 from 76 m to 46 m and 30 m.
- **Variance PL-ZNA-2026-0008** – Allow dwelling addition and septic system 24 m from lake at 241 Brash Lane.
- **Variance PL-ZNA-2026-0058** – Allow additions to non-conforming dwelling within 30 m of Buck Lake at 31-B Payne Lane.

Frontenac OPP Detachment Board (Aug. 20)
The board reviewed:
- Statistical report for June–August 2026.
- Budget Administration By-law Amendment and financial update.
- 2026 Detachment Commander Performance Monitoring Process.
- Administrative amendment to By-law Number 2025-01 (Procedure By-law).
