Trent Hills council to decide on in-house plumbing inspections, heritage grants
Trent Hills council will consider bringing plumbing inspection services in-house from Northumberland County, effective January 2027, among other items on its June 23 agenda. Council also will vote on two heritage grants, a decline of BYOB event permits, and a severance consent. No decisions have been made as meeting minutes have not yet been published.
June 23 – Council Meeting (agenda)
Plumbing inspections in-house: Council will decide whether to transition plumbing inspections from Northumberland County to municipal control by Dec. 31, 2026, with the municipality taking over starting January 2027.
BYOB event permits: Council will consider declining to issue permits for bring-your-own-beverage events on municipal property under Ontario Regulation 747/21.
Heritage grants: Two grants of $8,000 each are proposed – one for 13952 County Road 29 and another for 51 Front Street North.
Severance consent: A consent application (B11/2026) to sever 0.16 hectares at 240 Puffball Inn Road is up for approval.
Special event permits: Council will vote on permits for the Crooks Rapids Country Fest (Aug. 20–24) and a Rotary concert (July 18).
Coming up
July 7 – Public Meeting – Council will hold a public hearing on a proposal by Ryan and Kaylea Friedrich to consolidate three parcels and an unopened road allowance at 11404 County Road 45 into six lots, including four new residential building lots (0.84 to 1.49 hectares each) and a 32-hectare natural heritage parcel. A zoning by-law amendment (C09/2026) is also part of the application. No decision will be made at this meeting. Council will also hear a severance application (B21/2026) from Bruce Sharpe Ltd. for lot creation at 68 Doxsee Street / 85 Front Street North.
