A Land Acknowledgement is an intentional and formal statement that
recognizes the relationship between Indigenous people and their
traditional territories. It serves as a sign of gratitude and respect and
recognizes our shared obligation to respect and honour the land we live
and work on. Municipality of Brighton Council believes that they are a
necessary step toward honouring the original occupants of these lands
and as part of our reconciliation journey. Mayor Ostrander will provide a
Land Acknowledgement at the beginning of each Council Session,
public meeting, formal gatherings of Municipal staff or politicians and
any other special event as deemed appropriate.

ICSP status update: sustainability statement and 24 action objectives proposed
The Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee will receive a status update on the Integrated Community Sustainability Plan, including a proposed sustainability statement and 24 action objectives selected for feasibility review. They will also review summaries of provincial decisions on natural resources regulatory reform and renewable energy approval amendments. Additionally, a committee structure review to consolidate committees is on the agenda.

JEDI committee faces possible dissolution, consolidation into new working group
The Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee will discuss a staff recommendation to dissolve itself along with other committees, consolidating into a new 'Connected Community Working Group.' The recommendation also includes updates to the Committee of Council Administration Policy and adoption of a simplified procedure by-law. The committee deferred this discussion at its previous meeting and will revisit it now.

Applefest Steering Committee
Committee to consider wrestling promotion at Applefest
The Applefest Steering Committee will hear delegations from Friends of Presqu'ile about a nature centre renovation and from New Frontier, a local wrestling promotion, about hosting entertainment.
