The council will decide whether to authorize demolition of the diesel‑contaminated house at 807 5th Avenue with a maximum spend of $30,000, and to appoint a representative to the Robson Valley Situation Table. It will also consider approvals for one airport hangar lot on the south side of Charlie Leake Field runway, eleven hangar lots on the north side, and up to $40,000 for land clearing and temporary road work. Additional items include endorsing the Village of McBride Wayfinding Strategy guiding principles and design concept, and cancelling the July 28 and August 25 regular council meetings.

MRDT renewal update, Renshaw reopening brainstorm on agenda
The McBride Tourism Committee will receive an update on the Municipal and Regional District Tax (MRDT) 5-year renewal, which has been forwarded to the Minister of Finance for cabinet approval. The committee will hold brainstorming sessions on marketing the reopening of the Renshaw snowmobiling area and on the Municipal Wayfinding Sign Project. They will also hear a summary from the Chamber Hospitality Coffee Chat and adopt minutes from the February 12, 2026 meeting.

The Village of McBride submitted the MRDT 5-Year Strategic Plan and
one-year budget to Destination BC on February 17, 2026. On February
24, 2026, the Village received notification that DestinationBC had
completed review of the application and had forwarded it to the Minister
of Finance, who will present it to Cabinet for approval.
We are waiting to hear from the Ministry of Finance.

Council will consider authorizing the demolition of an abandoned, derelict house at 807 5th Avenue that recently had diesel fuel poured around it, creating a serious safety hazard. Staff recommend a remedial action requirement with 24-hour notice to the owner and a maximum expenditure of $30,000 for demolition and soil remediation. The property has outstanding taxes and utility fees of $6,299.
