Central Elgin council set to vote on Maud Street rezoning; housing board and BIA also on the agenda
Central Elgin's council, municipal housing corporation, and Port Stanley BIA all had meetings on the calendar over the past two weeks. Because minutes have not yet been published for any of these sessions, what follows is drawn from the agendas only — no decisions are confirmed.
Council special meeting: zoning and development agreements
Council's July 20 special meeting agenda listed several planning items, including a zoning by-law amendment to rezone 165 Maud Street in Port Stanley from Open Space-3 to Residential-1-101 for a three-storey semi-detached dwelling. The agenda also included a combined zoning and official-plan amendment for 396 Edith Cavell Boulevard and a development agreement for Eagle Ridge Phase 3.
The by-laws listed on the agenda were:
- By-law 2026-052 — Zoning By-law Amendment, 165 Maud Street
- By-law 2026-054 — Zoning By-law Amendment, 396 Edith Cavell Boulevard
- By-law 2026-055 — Official Plan Amendment, 396 Edith Cavell Boulevard
- By-law 2026-056 — Execute Development Agreement, Eagle Ridge Phase 3
- By-law 2026-057 — Confirmation By-law
Minutes are not yet available, so it is not confirmed which by-laws were passed or how councillors voted.
Non-Profit Housing Corporation: maintenance and contractor items
The Central Elgin Municipal Non-Profit Housing Corporation Board met July 22. The agenda called for adoption of minutes from June 5 and June 17, 2026, plus a response to a board question on the May 2026 disbursement report regarding $94.27.
Other agenda items included an air-monitoring study report (Report #2) for Unit 108, a $1,073.00 quotation from Great Floors for bedroom carpeting in Unit 216, and a $375.00-plus-HST quotation from Red-E-Bins for a 5-yard leaf and yard waste bin rental. The board was also scheduled to discuss minimum liability insurance requirements for contractors and common-room carpet cleaning.
No minutes have been published, so board decisions on these items are not yet confirmed.
Port Stanley BIA: sponsorships and vendor market rules
The Port Stanley BIA Board of Management met July 28. The agenda listed two sponsorship requests: $3,500.00 for Port Stanley Art Day and $5,000.00 for Oneida Arrival Day. The board was also set to review promotional campaign options from Bell Media and discuss regulations and potential fees for the Port Stanley Vendor Market. An update on the Port Stanley Art Project mural installations was also on the agenda.
As with the other meetings, minutes are not yet published, so it is not known which sponsorship requests were approved or what the board decided regarding vendor market regulations.
Coming up
No upcoming meetings are listed for the next 14 days. Readers who want to confirm outcomes from the July 20, 22, and 28 sessions should watch for the published minutes on the Township of Central Elgin's official website.
