Coldstream council hears agricultural funding proposal, considers annual report
Coldstream council heard a presentation on a proposed provincial funding program for agricultural municipalities during its June 22 regular meeting, according to the agenda. The meeting also included proposed votes on a new public notice bylaw and a change to park rules to allow off-leash dogs at Pumphouse Beach. However, meeting minutes have not yet been published, so the outcomes of these items are not available.
In a special meeting on June 29, council convened to consider the 2025 District of Coldstream Annual Report. The agenda listed formal approval of the report, a public input session, and a review of $6 million in completed capital works. Also on the agenda were discussions of the completed Asset Management Plan, the Cemetery Master Plan, and the Active Transportation Network Plan. Again, minutes are pending, and it is not yet known whether council approved the report or took action on these items.
June 22 – Regular Council Meeting
According to the agenda, the meeting began with a presentation from the Mayor of Summerland on the proposed Agricultural Municipality Initiative, which would address infrastructure costs on Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) lands. Council also received a presentation from the Okanagan Basin Water Board on its five-year strategic direction, taken as information, and a BC Transit fare review presentation. The fare review decision was deferred to July 13.
Council was scheduled to vote on adopting Public Notice Bylaw No. 1873, 2026, and a parks bylaw amendment to allow off-leash dogs at Pumphouse Beach. Unfinished business included a report on traffic calming on Kidston Road, with council to consider policy amendments.
June 29 – Special Council Meeting
The special meeting was called primarily to consider and potentially approve the 2025 Annual Report. The agenda included a public input session for residents to ask questions and provide comments. Council was also scheduled to review $6 million in completed 2025 capital works, the completed Asset Management Plan, the Cemetery Master Plan, and the Active Transportation Network Plan. The Director of Financial Administration was to present the annual report for approval.
