Hastings Highlands committee hears Baptiste Lake variance request, defers decision to July 30
The Committee of Adjustment on July 2 heard a request to build a shed and deck within 30 metres of Baptiste Lake’s high water mark, but adjourned the decision to a later meeting.
Committee of Adjustment hears Baptiste Lake variance
The committee considered Minor Variance Application A-2026-008 for 2137 North Baptiste Lake Road. The applicants, Bob and Patti Ottens (represented by agent Joan Phillips), are seeking relief from the zoning bylaw that prohibits structures within 30 metres of the high water mark of Baptiste Lake. The request is for a 9-foot by 12-foot shed and an attached deck.
The meeting was held on July 2, 2026, and was live-streamed on the municipality’s YouTube channel. No decision was made; the matter was adjourned to the committee’s next meeting on July 30, 2026. Minutes from the July 2 meeting have not yet been published.
Coming up
The Committee of Adjustment is scheduled to reconvene on July 30, 2026, to continue hearing the variance application. No other council or committee meetings are listed for the next two weeks.
