Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment will consider four applications for minor variances and permissions. These requests seek relief from zoning bylaws regarding building sizes, setbacks, and environmental buffers for residential projects.

• A-2026-003: Request for a 752.25 sq. ft. boathouse and 1100 sq. ft. dock at 115 Rangers Road
• A-2026-009: Request to relocate a 689 sq. ft. 'pirate ship'-shaped boathouse at 373 Bartlett Trail

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment will hear a request to build a shed and attached deck within 30 metres of the high water mark of Baptiste Lake, which is currently prohibited by zoning bylaws.

Regular Meeting of Council

Hastings Highlands Council will review monthly departmental reports and approve routine consent agenda items. The meeting features formal consideration of a licence agreement to improve an unopened road allowance in Wicklow and an update to the municipal procurement policy. Staff will also provide direction on long-term planning for Logger’s Field event space and submit a federal funding application for the Birds Creek Outdoor Arena revitalization project.

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment will hold public hearings on four minor variance applications. Two applications seek to exceed the maximum boathouse size by 152-183 sq ft. Two other applications ask to build a dwelling, deck, septic, and gazebo closer than the required 30-metre setback from steep or unstable slopes. The committee will also cancel its June 11 regular meeting.

• 115 Rangers Road: variance to build a 752 sq ft boathouse (max 600 sq ft) and within 30m of steep slope
• 2137 North Baptiste Lake Road: variance to build a 783 sq ft boathouse (max 600 sq ft)
• 135 South Road: variance to build a 897 sq ft dwelling with deck and septic as close as 25 ft from steep slope

Regular Meeting of Council

Council will consider adopting the 2026 municipal budget and setting tax rates. They will also award contracts for road surface renewal ($1.3M), road and bridge design ($2M+), and a rink slab ($141k). Three public hearings will be held on closing and selling shore road allowances at specific lakefront properties.

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment will hold public hearings to decide on two land-use applications. The body is determining whether to grant relief from zoning bylaws regarding setbacks, heights, and environmental buffers for two specific properties.

• Permission Application A-2025-015: Replace a 780 sq. ft. dwelling with a 1,092 sq. ft. home at 439 West Diamond Lake Road
• Minor Variance Application A-2026-002: Construct a 676 sq. ft. garage with a loft at 1094 Lake St. Peter Road

The council will conduct a second reading of the 2026 Draft Operating Budget. It will adopt Bylaw 2026-005, establishing a policy for the closure and sale of Shore Road Allowances. The council will approve a $500 administrative fee refund (plus HST) to Joan and Ben Phillips for File No. O-2025-005, and authorize up to $150,000 for outdoor rink boards for the Maynooth Outdoor Rink Revitalization project. Additional departmental reports and resolutions will be accepted for information.

The Hastings Highlands Committee of Adjustment will hear and decide on Permission Application A-2026-001 submitted by Domenic and Susanna Sacco for the property at 141 O-At-Ka Rd, Baptiste Lake. The application seeks to replace an existing 800 sq ft dwelling with a new 1‑storey 1,290 sq ft house, deck, sunroom, porch and balcony, all within specified setback distances. The meeting will also adopt the minutes from the December 11 2025 Committee of Adjustment meeting and address procedural items before adjourning to the next meeting on March 5 2026.
