Council weighs options for White Lake Park rink slab replacement, fee waiver
McNab/Braeside Township Council has been weighing options for replacing the concrete slab at the White Lake Park ice rink, with a $130,000 allocation from recreation reserves under consideration. White Lake Park rink slab replacement
At the June 25 special meeting, staff presented three options for the rink surface. Options include: (1) a concrete slab without insulation, (2) a full replacement with insulation, or (3) keeping the existing asphalt. The report noted frost-protection challenges with the current foundation. Council was asked to provide direction on which option to pursue.
The June 30 meeting included a review of the same three options. The proposed work is tied to a $130,000 allocation in the 2025 budget, drawn from recreation reserves. Previous upgrades to the rink include $84,820 for boards, $23,823.90 for foundation work, and $28,000 for asphalt. A structural-design contract with Kollaard Associates for a new slab was also mentioned in the June 25 agenda.

Fee waiver request for Ottawa Valley Slo-Pitch
Council considered a request to waive the $100 (plus HST) rental fee for an Ottawa Valley Slo-Pitch event scheduled for July 12, 2026. The June 25 and June 30 agendas both list the waiver as a discussion item. The minutes not yet published, so the outcome of the request is unknown.
