Brockton council considers new zoning bylaw, arena history review
Brockton’s council met on June 23 to consider adopting a new comprehensive zoning bylaw and to debate a possible new location for a pilot dog park, among other items. No minutes have been published yet, so the outcomes of those votes are not yet known.
Council weighs major zoning overhaul
The main item on the agenda was final adoption of the Brockton Comprehensive Zoning By-Law 2026-056. If approved, it would replace the current zoning rules across the municipality. Also on the table was an amendment to the Walkerton Fire Department Establishing and Regulating By-law.
Council received a notice of motion to reconsider a previously selected location for a pilot dog park. The motion would allow debate on whether to move the park to a different site.
Other business included a report on septage disposal costs and potential cost-recovery options, as well as a historical review of past council decisions regarding the Walkerton Community Centre Arena. The meeting also featured updates on economic development and a closed session to discuss personnel, legal, and commercial matters.
Accessibility committee discusses ramp, ambassador program
Brockton’s Accessibility Advisory Committee met on June 26. Members debriefed this year’s Accessibility Awareness Day, discussed an accessible ramp project, and reviewed the Accessibility Ambassador Program. The committee approved its May 22 minutes and set its next meeting for September 25, 2026. No major decisions were on the agenda.
