Special meeting: housing by-law
Regional Council met on Aug. 21 to consider By-law 2026-036 for the provision of municipal housing facilities, based on a memorandum from the Solicitor. The agenda also included two confidential reports: Report #2026-COW-41 on senior government funding for capital projects and Report #2026-COW-42 on CMHC loan financing for capital projects. The meeting was to conclude with a confirming by-law. No vote results are available.

The Aug. 14 Council Information Package (CIP) contained items for information only, with no decisions. It included an investment compliance report from the Commissioner of Finance, a health update from Dr. R.J. Kyle, Medical Officer of Health, and two resolutions from other municipalities: North Perth supporting Whitby's review of the Ontario Land Tribunal and deference to municipal planning, and Belleville on ALTO – Protecting Municipal Interests and Local Decision Making Motions.

A second virtual information-only meeting on Aug. 21 reviewed staff reports on Durham Region's submission to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission regarding Ontario Power Generation's Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment application, and on traffic impacts for median station construction of the Durham/Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit in the Town of Ajax. The agenda also included correspondence from other municipalities: a Pickering resolution on the Provincial Road Safety Initiatives Fund, a Leeds and Grenville resolution supporting the Municipal Finance Officers' Association request to make the doubling of the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund permanent, and Ingersoll resolutions on a vacant commercial storefront tax and extending the deadline for notice of intention to designate listed heritage properties.
