Halton Hills Council to consider 2025 audited financials, surplus allocation on July 13
No decisions from the June 22 Council meeting have been published yet, as minutes remain unavailable. The town's next major business comes July 13, when Council will review the 2025 audited financial statements and decide on distributing the operating surplus.
Recent meeting: June 22 Council
The June 22 Council agenda included two statutory public hearings: a proposal for an 80-unit, 5-storey apartment building at 97 Bower Street in Acton, and a temporary zoning amendment for model homes and a sales centre at 10114 & 10242 Eighth Line in Georgetown. Council also planned to discuss the potential designation of 65 Maple Avenue in Georgetown under the Ontario Heritage Act, and to receive a report on the Guelph Street Corridor Secondary Plan Draft Preferred Land Use Scenario. A closed session was scheduled regarding litigation under Report PD-2026-066. Because the minutes have not yet been published, the outcome of these items is not known.
Upcoming meetings
July 8 – Committee of Adjustment
The Committee of Adjustment is scheduled to meet, but the published agenda contains only procedural boilerplate and no substantive items for discussion or decision. No applications or hearings are listed.
July 13 – Council
Council will open with a closed session to discuss confidential land acquisitions and funding. In open session, members are expected to adopt reports from the previous committee meeting, including the Guelph Street Corridor Secondary Plan preferred land use scenario and road safety funding.
The most consequential open-session item is the consideration of the 2025 Annual Financial Statements and Management Discussion and Analysis, which will present audited results and likely include a proposal for how to handle any operating surplus. Council will also vote on several other items:
- Noise bylaw exemption requests for events at 16406 5 Side Road and 13434 22 Side Road
- Transfer of St. John Anglican Cemetery to the Town of Halton Hills
- Intention to designate four properties under the Ontario Heritage Act: 49 & 51 Main St N, 11820 10 Side Rd, and 7593 5 Side Rd
