will have the opportunity to address the committee. Committee members will then ask any questions they may have concerning the application. All questions are going to be addressed through the chair person. When the committee is satisfied that all questions have been addressed, the public discussion will end. The committee will then render its decision for approval, refusal, or deferral. After the decision is read, there will be absolutely no further discussion on the application. A copy of the decision of this committee will be mailed to the applicant or agent within 15 days. There is a 20-day appeal period for both consent and minor variance applications to allow the applicant, the minister, or a specified person or public body that has an interest in the matter to appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal. For signed variances, the 20-day appeal period is to allow for an appeal to Haldeman County Council. If there is no appeal within the appeal period, the decision of this committee becomes final and binding. At that time, a letter of confirmation will be mailed to the applicant. Applications for power of sale and validation of title have no appeal period process. In the case of a consent approval, all conditions must be satisfied within two years of the committee's decision or the severance becomes null and void. I'll ask at this time if any committee members have a conflict with today's agenda. I don't believe they have. And I respectfully ask that you turn off your cell phones …

Thank you. It's a rainy, rainy Thursday. You know, it's a bit of an unfortunate situation, the first item on the agenda. When I first sat in this chair, Mayor Bentley will probably recall, Member Shaw, my first item of business was asking for a moment's silence when the loss of our detachment constable under, oh, he was murdered. I mean, it was murdered. Let's call it what it was. I didn't think that I would be doing something like this again, but I would ask all of you. Of course, we know in the news that what's going on is very unusual in Canadian policing and Canada as a community with the negative effects on our police officers, OPP, RCMP, and municipal police officers. But to of our own, we lost our former detachment commander and probably one of the longer serving detachment commanders in what was Haldeman County Detachment at that time in Phil Carter, who passed away in retirement of natural causes illness. He joined the force back in 1981 and was stationed in Essex . A couple of years later, he joined the Cayuga Detachment. Eventually, he became part of the enhanced major events back in September of 2006, primarily in the Caledonia area. Transferred back into Alderman in 2011. And in 2012, I was part of the selection committee, actually, that appointed him as the detachment commander for Haldeman County. He was promoted to inspector just prior to that. He retired 42 years later, one month into our board term originally. And 42 years. Just a great gentleman. Obviously, …

Good morning. Haldeman County's Committee of Adjustment hearing will now come to order. As we gather, we humbly acknowledge that Haldeman County sits on the ancestral lands of many generations of Indigenous nations who have been here since time memorial. Today this land continues to be home to many Indigenous people, including the Six Nations of the Grand River, the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, as well as non-Indigenous settlers from various varieties of backgrounds. As a community, we have shared the responsibility of stewardship of the land on which we live and work. We are grateful for the opportunity to work together and to share the land we call home. Acknowledging reminds us that our living conditions are directly related to the abundant resources of the Indigenous peoples. We commit to continually learning, reflecting on our past and working in allyship with Indigenous communities towards respective community goals, objectives and peace, respect and friendship. I'll briefly explain our procedures for today's hearing. This committee will be dealing with applications for consent, minor variances, power of sale, validations of title and sign variances. Copies of today's agenda are available on the front desk. When applicants or agents should have already received a copy of the planner's report regarding their application. When your application has been introduced by the Secretary- Treasurer, please proceed to the podium if you wish to address the committee con …

Thank you. All right. So the first one is Mark Haynes. He's our paramedic and he received the recognition for receiving the Ontario Medal of Bravery. So I'd like Mark to come up and we have a scroll for him and our MPP as well, if she would like to come up and present to him. So I'm sorry, Madam Mayor. - Sorry, and then Scott has something to say. - Yeah, sorry, through your worship to council, I was just gonna read this statement and I'll ask Chief Gallagher and Mark to join me here and then we'll come over for a picture and to receive the commendation. So as the General Manager of Community Safety and Wellness, it gives me great pleasure to recognize Mark Haynes, who received the Ontario Medal for Bravery from the province last month. Haldeman County is proud to recognize Mark for an event that took place on August 5th, 2023. While off duty and camping with his family at Shoots Provincial Park, Mark took swift and courageous action during a water emergency at the beach. He observed an elderly man swim into deep water to assist his grandson before suddenly beginning to struggle and submerge. While the child was able to swim back to safety, the man required immediate help. Without hesitation, Mark swam approximately 80 meters to reach the individual. By the time he arrived, the man had gone fully underwater. Mark was able to bring him to the surface, ensuring he could breathe and safely return him to shore. Mark's quick thinking, strong swimming, and commitment to helping oth …

We commit to continue learning, reflecting on our past, and working in allyship with Indigenous communities toward respective community goals and objectives in peace, respect, and friendship. Thank you. Roll call. I see that all members of Council are present this evening. Disclosures of pecuniary interest. Are there any disclosures of pecuniary interest? I do have one for myself.
